35 Things and Counting

  1. My son asked me why I called my blog Natural Momma and I told him because I’ve always been a momma, its my natural role in life I think. I was a momma figure before I was a momma in person, because I helped raise my brothers.
  2.

  3. I ran away from home at age 13 and never went back. My mother knew where I was, and didn’t force me to come home, which I’m grateful for to this day. We have an okay relationship, me and my mom. But we’re better off living in different states.
  4.

  5. I am prone to fits of obscurity both musically and visually. Does anyone remember Xene? I thought not. Her song, “White Trash Wife” is one of my all time faves.
  6.

  7. I had my first child when I was just barely 18. My first child had her first child when she was 17. Its not a good pattern. But it happened and we deal with it. She’s now married with four kids of her own, all girls, under age five. YIKES.
  8.

  9. I have a lot of “life experiences” that probably would be frowned on by conventional society, but I’m grateful for all of them today. I wasn’t at the time of course, but now, looking back, I know that everything I went through, or put myself through, has helped shape me into the person I am.
  10.

  11. I have a thing for black furniture. Not like, painted black, but eboy stained and I redid my dining table with an ebony stained top about 2 weeks after we moved into our home.
  12.

  13. This is not the first home I’ve bought, but I claim it as such because the first home was actually a mobile home, in west Texas in 1986. Shortly after, the oil-field crashed and the  house was reposessed and driven away.
  14.

  15. My very first job was working the concession stand at a Drive in Theatre the summer I turned 12. I got fired for watching Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band instead of working.
  16.

  17. I was a straight A Student until my 9th Grade year. That year, we moved to Utah 1 week before school was out and I missed my final exams. The year we were in Utah, I attened a privately owned school whos credits did not transfer with me when we moved back to Texas and I was placed back in the 9th grade. Shortly after that, I quit.
  18.

  19. I don’t regret quitting school, but I don’t recommend it. I”m not a huge fan of conventional education, but I wish I hadn’t waited so long to get my GED.
  20.

  21. In 1992, I was diagnosed with a form of Dyslexia called Dyscalculia. This means I have a problem with numbers and their order. I get certain numbers backwards, which makes simple things like balancing a check book, writing checks or doing some math problems very difficult.
  22.

  23. I swear a lot. I can’t help it, its like turretts or something, I dunno. But I do and my fave swear word is fuck. If you’re offended.. fuck, I’m sorry.
  24.

  25. I’m really proud of the relationship I have with my kids. Its relaxed and open and we talk about everything, even the embarassing, gross stuff.
  26.

  27. Its taken me 18 years to figure out that marriage is harder work tomorrow than you think it will be today.
  28.

  29. There are currently a pair of finches (wild birds) building a nest in my office. I”m letting them. Its great to watch! They are very funny and you can tell the female is going to lay eggs because she’s bitchy.
  30.

  31. I love love LOVE animals. Not so much that I would worship a cow, but I won’t harm one (unless its commercially grown for consumption and fine leather handbags). I’ve had several pets, including but not limited to a cobalt blue turantula and a Cane Break rattlesnake, also known as a timber rattler.
  32.

  33. Everyone says that once you have kids, you never have a dull moment. What they don’t say is that sometimes you REALLY WANT a dull moment.
  34.

  35. I was not an “instant mother”. I didn’t take to it until my oldest daughter was at least two and I figured out that the delivery guy wasn’t coming to take her back.
  36.

  37. There are six years between my oldest kid and second kid, 14 months between my second and third kid and six years between my third kid (The Teen) and my baby (The Tween)
  38.

  39. I am a self professed work-a-holic. If I don’t have a project to work on, I’ll create one.
  40.

  41. Even though I did not go to college, I am smart. My IQ tested very high but I don’t put a lot of stock into that. I know a lot of very well educated stupid people.
  42.

  43. I taught myself HTML, PHP, CGI, Java and Javascripting and a number of other internet and computer languages by trial and error over a period of about 4 years.
  44.

  45. My two favorite seasons are winter and spring.
  46.

  47. And yet I live in a part of the country that has neither
  48.

  49. I have lived in the Deep South for almost 23 years (this August) and have wanted to leave the deep south for 22 years (This August)
  50.

  51. I have a sublimely twisted sense of humor
  52.

  53. I still can’t spell worth a shit
  54.

  55. I regularly induldge in several hobbies which include but are not limited to: quilting, sewing and embroidery, crochette, cooking, gardening, photography, painting, writing poetry, and harrassing my children
  56.

  57. I am a very affectionate person who has learned not to be
  58.

  59. I am secretly in love with Kevin Costner and Jeffery Dean Morgan
  60.

  61. Neither knows about the other, so don’t tell
  62.

  63. If I had to be stranded on a desert island with one album, it would have to be Quadrophenia. If you don’t know who did it, learn LOL
  64.

  65. If I had to be stranded on a desert island with one person other than my husband or my kids, it would be someone I know in South Carolina (Shout out to the darkman)
  66.

  67. For many years I suffered from insomnia, so I learned a sort of Self Hypnosis to help me fall asleep without having night terrors. I still use it to get to sleep
  68.

  69. Because of a mental condition, I’m hypersensative to certain noises. I can stand by the BIG speakers at Ozzfest and it doesn’t bother me, but please do not let me hear you chew. And toes twitching under the covers? Mwahhhahhaha that will get you immediately banned from the bed!
  70. I compose music. Its sort of a hobby/gift/escape I’ve had since I was very young. I play guitar, drums and keys, by ear and have been known to sing. You can hear the peice I’ve been working on recently by downloading this midi file. Don’t laugh and don’t be mean. I am admittedly an amature. The song is a birthday gift for my oldest grandaughter, who is now six! OMG!
